Tiger cake roll 🐯

Happy 2022 Lunar New Year!

It's tiger year 🐯, so I made a tiger cake roll for sharing with my family and friends. Tiger roll cake is one of my childhood favorite bakes from those traditional bakeries. They usually have chocolate or vanilla flavors, and I love them both!

I really enjoy the simplicity of this cake roll, but what makes them so unique is the special texture and flavor of the tiger-patterned outer layer.

The funny thing is I've never made such a huge cake roll, which consumed a total of 20 eggs. The tiger-patterned outer layer was made with 12 egg yolks, which left me with so many leftover egg whites...how troublesome! But looking at the final product with the tiger patterns shown, it's definitely worth the time and effort of accomplishing this piece of bake.
